All,

I was born and bred in Dumfries but no longer live there but I still take an interest in Queens. It's sad to see the predicament that Queens are in and I hope that the club gets back to a sound financial footing quickly. Before I start, I think that Ross Corbett deserves praise for this initiative and all the efforts he is undertaking, so well done Ross.

Is it worth considering writing to lower/non league English (and perhaps foreign eg Dutch/Scandinavian) clubs to get their advice and ideas on how they raise funds and how they manage to be financially sustainable. Queens cannot be the only club to suffer from a lack of funds and the club may get some useful ideas from those clubs who have expierenced similiar difficulties in the past. I'm not sure if these ideas have been discussed already, but some fund raising ideas are:

- easyfundraising.org.uk is a shopping directory listing some online stores including Argos, Next, eBay, Amazon, Debenhams, Vodafone, Toys R Us, HMV, Play.com and over 600 other top name stores. Whenever you shop with any one of them using the links provided on the easyfundraising site, you generate a free donation for Queens of up to 15% of the purchase price every time (BUT THIS REQUIRES SOMEONE FROM THE CLUB TO SET UP A LINK WITH easyfundraising.org.uk IN ADVANCE).

- A Queens credit card where a percentage of monies spent is donated to Queens.

- Holiday club (run in conjunction with Thomas Cook), where the individual can make savings for themselves and earn commission for the club (i think Rangers/Celtic operate this club with Thomas Cook).

- 2011 Queens Calendar.

- A draw with prizes donated by local business

Hope this is a useful starting point.
